The California College of Ayurveda, located in Nevada City, California, provides holistic health education to students interested in earning professional certification in Ayurveda and Panchakarma, a related branch of Indian medicine. Established in 1995, the California College of Ayurveda was the first school of Ayurvedic medicine established outside of India and one of the oldest state-approved Ayurvedic study centers in the United States.
A member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association, the California College of Ayurveda was founded by Dr. Marc Halpern, a recognized leader in the field, who continues to serve as president. Among other recognitions, he received the Dhanvantari Award for Excellence in Practice by the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America, and he is a member of the advisory board for both the Journal of Research and Education in Indian Medicine and the Light on Ayurveda Journal.
In an effort to contribute to the betterment of the community, the school participates in an outreach program that provides local individuals the opportunity to receive low-cost Ayurvedic health care through the school’s student internship program. The college also supports the Bitney Brain Buster Challenge at the Bitney College Preparatory High School.
